Petron Corporation Reports 44% Drop in Nine-Month Net Income to P5.4 Billion
Petron Reports Lower Nine-Month Income
Petron Corporation announced a significant financial decline for the first nine months of 2026. The company reported a 44% drop in consolidated net income to P5.4 billion. Earnings reached P9.7 billion during the same period last year. Despite this bottom-line decrease, the company achieved strong revenue growth. Consolidated revenues surged by 56% to climb to P928.2 billion. Higher global oil prices and improved sales volume drove this financial growth.
Refining Pressures Weigh on Profits
Soaring global crude oil costs drove the profit slump. Import premiums and elevated freight expenses also created relentless pressure. These challenges stemmed from persistent geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Consequently, operating costs increased significantly for the firm. Consolidated sales volumes rose by 3% to reach 103.5 million barrels. However, combined sales from Philippine and Malaysian operations experienced a 3% dip, totaling 82 million barrels. Lower refinery production and planned maintenance activities caused this local decline.
Strategic Upgrades Drive Long-Term Resilience
Petron remains optimistic about regaining momentum moving forward. A major refinery upgrade project finishes by early 2027. This project will improve operational efficiency and profit margins. President and CEO Ramon S. Ang emphasized corporate resilience during external challenges. The firm relies on a diversified portfolio and financial discipline. Despite current headwinds, Petron maintains a dominant market position and invests in long-term capabilities.
