Indo Energi Hijau, a subsidiary of PLN Indonesia Power (PLN IP), will be rebranding to PLN Indonesia Geothermal to provide focus on the state-owned firm’s geothermal development efforts. This is a part of the overall “Transformation 2.0” initiative of PLN IP to support aspirations of optimizing the various assets in developing renewable energy and becoming a globally competitive company.

PT PLN, the parent company of PLN IP, has recently elevated its vision from being the largest company in Southeast Asia to being included in the Fortune 500. To achieve this, the company aims to optimize the role of its subsidiaries in developing renewable energy assets.

Two other subsidiaries will undergo rebranding. Cogindo Daya Bersama will become PLN Indonesia Power Services, and Putra Indo Energy will become PLN Indonesia Power Renewables.

Edwin Nugraha Putra, Main Director of PLN IP, said that the rebranding reflects the future focus on Net Zero Emissions (NZE) technologies, thus prioritizing renewable energy development including operations and maintenance of power plants.

“This is a new chapter in PLN Indonesia Power’s journey, to become a leading and sustainable power company and support the achievement of being included in the Top Fortune Global 500,” added Edwin.

PLN IP had recently signed a cooperation agreement with geothermal developer PT Pertamina Geothermal to jointly develop geothermal capacity optimization projects in Indonesia, starting with binary power plants in the existing Ulubelu and Lahendong fields.
