French geothermal development company TLS Geothermics has been awarded the geothermal exploration license for the “Pointe Sud-Ouest” license area in Martinique. This is now the second geothermal license given to TLS Geothermics after the award of the “Cœur Martinique” area in September 2023.

The “Pointe Sud-Ouest” exploration license covers an area of ??54 km² onshore and 8 km² offshore, within the Territorial Collectivity of Martinique. The license is valid from the 25th of June 2024 for an initial period of three years.

The initial objective for the project is a 10-MW geothermal power plant using ORC technology with a seawater cooling system.
