A new company, GeoExchange New Zealand<\/a>, has officially been launched with the mission of identifying, protecting, and developing New Zealand\u2019s lesser know but abundant low-temperature (10 \u00b0C to 50 \u00b0C) groundwater and geothermal resources.<\/p>\n

With a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and social scientists, GeoExchange NZ provides independent design and advisory services to the public and private sector on ground source heat pump and geoheat systems. The team has over 70 years of local and international experience, creating a unique capability to integrate the disciplines of mechanical engineering, environmental sciences, systems thinking, social sciences and some design philosophy.<\/p>\n

GeoHeat, the Energy Transition and Aotearoa New Zealand<\/strong><\/h4>\n

New Zealand is blessed with abundant high temperature geothermal resources that provide low carbon and renewable electrical energy. It is also blessed with abundant low temperature (10\u00b0C to 150\u00b0C) groundwater and geothermal resources that can provide low carbon and renewable thermal energy.<\/p>\n

Less well known, these low temperature, or geoheat sources<\/a>, are everywhere and can be used either directly (e.g. geothermal pools) or indirectly with a heat pump.<\/p>\n

The result is low carbon, energy efficient heating, cooling and hot water to homes, offices, aquatic centres, health and educational facilities as well as district heating and industrial applications such as process heat and greenhouses.<\/p>\n

GeoExchange NZ exists to accelerate New Zealand\u2019s transition to a cleaner and fairer energy system.<\/p>\n
