The Geothermal Development Company<\/a> (GDC) has published an open tender for the supply and installation of a 5 to 10 MW wellhead geothermal power plant at the Menengai Field in Kenya. The tender will close on the 15th of August 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

For clarity, the full title of the contract is \u201cDesign, Financing, Procurement\/Manufacturing, Supply, Installation\/Construction, Testing, and Commissioning of a 5 to 10 MW geothermal wellhead power plant at Menengai geothermal field on a Build-Own-Operate (BOO) basis.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

A site visit conducted by the GDC will be held on the 31st July 2024 at the Menengai geothermal project.<\/p>\n

The Menengai geothermal steam field, managed by GDC, has a potential of 169 MW based on the 53 wells that have been drilled as of 2023. The ongoing Phase 1 of the development targets a capacity of 105 MW via three power plants of 35 MW each<\/a> to be constructed and operated by a different IPP. GDC is also working on direct use applications<\/a> such as greenhouses, milk pasteurization, and a spa complex<\/a>.<\/p>\n
