The General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) is planning a geothermal exploration campaign at the Baglar district in Diyarbakir, Turkiye. In this context, it is planned to carry out the drilling one exploration well to a depth of 2750 meters.<\/p>\n

As part of the project, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process for the the Southeastern Anatolia Geothermal Energy Exploration Project has started. The P.T.D. file submitted to the Governorship of Diyarbakir was reviewed in accordance with Article 16 of the EIA Regulation and it was announced to the public that the EIA process for the project has started.<\/p>\n

The project covers geothermal resource exploration activities in a 3040 m\u00b2 section of the 4962.96 hectare area with license number 2022210006 in K\u00f6rtepe Village, Baglar district, Diyarbak?r province.<\/p>\n

The MTA General Directorate carries out exploration and research projects within the framework of the Development Plans to increase its share in T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s mining sector and does not carry out any operational activities. In this case, the project is expected to provide more information on the geothermal resource potential in the Baglar district and contribute to T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s research and exploration activities in the field of geothermal energy.<\/p>\n

A similar campaign done in the Carikli neighborhood in Diyarbakir in 2022 identified a geothermal resource<\/a> with temperature of 60 \u00b0C at 2000 meters depth. The plan was to use the resource for thermal tourism and greenhouse cultivation.<\/p>\n
