Exergy International srl<\/a> (Exergy), a global provider of new generation Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) power plants, has announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with RentCo Africa Limited<\/a> (RentCo), a firm providing energy leasing solutions in Kenya.<\/p>\n

The agreement will see Exergy supplying eight (8) ORC power plants for a wellhead geothermal power generation project by RentCo in the Olkaria field. The units from Exergy will have a total generation capacity of about 30 MWe. Exergy will also be providing their comprehensive technical expertise in geothermal binary power plant design and maintenance, combined with highly efficient Radial Outflow Turbine (ROT) technology, to expand RentCo\u2019s geothermal business.<\/p>\n

The project planned by RentCo aims to\u00a0 augment the power generation capacity of the Olkaria geothermal field by a total of 67 MWe using a combination of flash and ORC power plant technology.<\/p>\n

Our aim is to contribute to a smooth clean energy transition in Africa, improving electricity access for an increasing number of people across the continent,\u201d<\/em> said Luca Pozzoni, General Manager of Exergy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am pleased to have reached this agreement with RentCo. It is the culmination of our ongoing efforts and the valuable relationships that Exergy has cultivated in the East African market over several years. I am confident that numerous promising projects can be realized in this region through collaboration among financial investors, institutions, and technology providers,\u201d<\/em> added Erdogan Arpaci, General Manager of Exergy Turkey and responsible for Africa market development.<\/p>\n

The announcement comes at the heels of the just-concluded Kenya Geothermal Congress<\/a> that took place in Nairobi. Kenya currently holds the 6th spot<\/a> in the ranking of global geothermal power capacity and will be joining the 1-GW club soon.<\/p>\n
