The Manisa Metropolitan Municipality will be constructing a new energy transmission line and a 3300-meter pumping line to meet the irrigation and domestic water needs of the geothermal greenhouse project in Kula, T\u00fcrkiye. With this, the goal is to increase the agricultural potential of Kula and the production capacity of the greenhouse.<\/p>\n

Construction work on the Kula geothermal greenhouse started in mid-2022<\/a>. With a total area of 50,000 square meters of greenhouse, the facility aims to supply 2000 tomatoes annually to both domestic and foreign markets. The greenhouse is built at the site of the Emir Thermal Springs and harnesses heat from a depth of 182 meters.<\/p>\n

The initiative for the new infrastructure was signed by the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ferdi Zeyrek and Kula Municipality Deputy Mayor Semra G\u00fcnd\u00fcz. The project was described as an important step to securing the domestic and irrigation water needed by the agricultural site.<\/p>\n

Aside from supplying fresh produce, the geothermal greenhouse project has also employment opportunities for the young and unemployed in the region. About 75% of the workforce in the greenhouse are women<\/a>, thus providing a level of job and social security for women in a rural area in T\u00fcrkiye.<\/p>\n
