The drilling of a geothermal well in the town of Zyrard\u00f3w in Poland has been completed, with initial results supporting the proposal for geothermal heating. With this, the local government is pushing ahead with plans for a geothermal heating plant and other recreational uses.<\/p>\n

The geothermal well in Zyrard\u00f3w was drilled to a depth of 2680 meters, accessing a geothermal resource with a temperature of 70 \u00b0C and supporting a flowrate of approximately 160 m3<\/sup> per hour. The well is located within the coal yard of municipal company\u00a0PEC Zyrard\u00f3w<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Geothermal drilling in Zyrardow started in January 2024.<\/a> The project, officially called\u00a0\u201cConstruction of an exploration and appraisal well for thermal waters Zyrard\u00f3w GT-1 in the town of Zyrard\u00f3w\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0was co-financed by a PLN 19.8-million subsidy from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management under the first round of the \u201cMaking thermal waters available in Poland.\u201d<\/p>\n

The local government has announced that they intend to apply for further subsidies to support the development of geothermal facilities in Zyrardow. \u201cKeep your fingers crossed for further work in this area. We will certainly not rest on our laurels. Together with the entire team, we are working on further applications to obtain external subsidies for the development of Zyrard\u00f3w geothermal technology,\u201d<\/em> said Lucjan Krzysztof Chrzanowski, the Mayor of Zyrard\u00f3w.<\/p>\n
