The total subsidy amount for the proposed geothermal heat projects in this round is almost EUR 1.4 billion.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkgeoenergy.com\/netherlands-publishes-2023-sustainable-energy-subsidy-scheme\/\">The application round for the 2023 SDE++ was opened in August 2023.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The following companies and projects have been awarded subsidies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkgeoenergy.com\/geothermal-propels-dutch-horticulture-industry-to-new-heights\/\">Koekoekspolder<\/a> geothermal cluster<\/li>\n<li>Ennatuurlijk Geardwarmte, project Moerdijk<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkgeoenergy.com\/greenhouses-in-north-holland-are-able-to-cut-back-on-gas-due-to-geothermal-energy\/\">ECW Geo Andijk<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Eavor in Tilburg<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkgeoenergy.com\/geothermal-heating-project-in-purmerend-netherlands-to-progress-to-next-phase\/\">Yeager Energy in Purmerend<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Aardwarmtebron Zwolle<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkgeoenergy.com\/geothermal-resource-confirmed-at-maasdijk-netherlands\/\">HVC Maasdijk<\/a> (2x)<\/li>\n<li>HVC Polans<\/li>\n<li>Shell in Schipluiden<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The SDE++ is an operating grant that aims to help in achieving the government\u2019s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the Netherlands by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990. A total amount of EUR 8 billion was allocated for the 2023 round. Under the geothermal category, EUR 791 million was awarded to deep geothermal projects while EUR 606 million was awarded to geothermal heat pump projects.<\/p>\n<p>The actual cash expenditure on the SDE++ is expected to be significantly lower and will depend on the market prices for energy and CO2, as well as the actual realization of the projects and the amount of energy produced or CO2 reduced. If all projects are fully realized at maximum output, then the eligible projects will result in a 2.4 Mton CO2 reduction per year.<\/p>\n<p>The largest portion of the subsidy (around EUR 2 billion) went to CO2 capture and storage projects.
