The 13th ITB International Geothermal Workshop<\/a>, centered on \u201cOptimizing Geothermal Utilization for Supporting Energy Transition and Carbon Reduction,\u201d<\/strong> attracted 400 participants, including geothermal energy developers, regulators, and service providers.<\/p>\n

The vibrant event featured insightful keynote speeches on the pivotal role of geothermal energy in the global energy transition and its potential to reduce carbon emissions. Discussions also covered strategies for speeding up geothermal development, improving efficiency in geothermal power plants<\/a>, and other value-adding applications<\/a> of geothermal energy.<\/p>\n

Engaging plenary sessions showcased the latest in geothermal technology innovations, highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaborations, and provided updates from leading companies in the industry. Meanwhile, technical sessions offered deep dives into geoscience and engineering topics such as geology, exploration, geochemistry, geophysics, direct-use economics, well drilling, power generation, and reservoir and production engineering.<\/p>\n

Participants also enjoyed a variety of post-workshop activities, such as field camps, field trips, and specialized courses, all aimed at enhancing knowledge and fostering collaboration in the geothermal sector.<\/p>\n

A highlight was the field trip to the Patuha geothermal field<\/a> which features a 60 MW power plant that has been in operation for 10 years. Attendees toured the power plant, observed newly drilled wells, and explored operational wells, gaining firsthand insights into the practical aspects of geothermal energy production.<\/p>\n
