The public utility company\u00a0Beogradske Elektrana<\/a> has announced a tender for the detailed geoscientific study of the potential for geothermal heating at three sites in Belgrade, Serbia. Bids under this tender must be submitted by 24 June 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The study sites are within the the territory of the heating plants and boiler rooms operated by Beogradska Elektrana, potentially providing opportunities to transition away from the current fossil fuel-based energy production.<\/p>\n

Studies done under this tender will constitute phase three of a geothermal exploration campaign in Belgrade that was initiated in 2023<\/a>. In phase one, six heating plants from an initial list of 18 were identified as having the potential to utilize geothermal resources. This list was again shortened to three sites under phase two of the study<\/a>. These three sites are now the focus of this tender \u2013 Batajnica, Borca, and Dunav.<\/p>\n

Geoscientific studies under this tender aim to verify and refine the geothermal resource model of the three sites using geophysical and geological data. The scope includes the collection, processing, and interpretation of large amounts of data, as well as the organization and conduct of field research activities.<\/p>\n

The result of the detailed studies should be a conceptual model and prognosis for the exploitation of geothermal resources in the study sites.<\/p>\n
