The four planned projects are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>29-MW <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkgeoenergy.com\/turboden-to-supply-orc-geothermal-plant-for-edcs-29-mw-palayan-bayan-expansion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Palayan Bayan binary power plant<\/a> in Bicol<\/li>\n<li>5.6-MW <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkgeoenergy.com\/exergy-to-supply-5-6mw-binary-geothermal-system-to-edcs-bago-field-philippines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">power plant in Bago City<\/a>, Negros Occidental<\/li>\n<li>20-MW <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkgeoenergy.com\/toshiba-ess-to-deliver-power-generation-system-for-tanawon-geothermal-project-philippines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tanawon geothermal power plant<\/a> in Bicol<\/li>\n<li>28-MW <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkgeoenergy.com\/exergy-to-supply-orc-unit-for-mahanagdong-binary-geothermal-philippines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mahanagdong binary power plant<\/a> in Leyte<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EDC is also planning to augment their existing geothermal power facilities with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). By the end of 2024, three BESS projects are expected to go online:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>20-MWh BacMan BESS in Bicol<\/li>\n<li>10-MWh Tongonan BESS in Leyte<\/li>\n<li>10-MWh Negros BESS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A total of Php 29.3 billion (USD 500 million) of investment has been earmarked for the new capacity-building projects. According to First Gen President and COO Francis Giles Puno, the completion of these seven projects would bring the company\u2019s total installed renewable energy capacity to 1705 MW. By 2030, First Gen is aiming to have 13,000 MW of total capacity for its RE and natural gas assets.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cEasily, that\u2019s at a million dollars per megawatt. That\u2019s easily $9 billion over that span of time. So it\u2019s a large investment that we will need,\u201d<\/em> said Puno. <em>\u201cSo the policies of the government have to be very supportive. Not only the policies, but the implementation of those policies has to be correct for it to attract the investors. The fact is that we have a lot of investments that are needed.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>To support these new projects, First Gen is almost tripling its capital expenditure budget to $1.27 billion this year.
